I am grateful to Annie Emmins from The Besom in Elmbridge for inviting me to help out with the charity’s home delivery service today. We collected a bed from a generous donor in Claygate and delivered it – with bedding and kitchen essentials – to a vulnerable individual who Elmbridge Borough Council have provided with accommodation in West Molesey. We were careful to observe social distancing throughout.
The Besom provides a bridge between those who want to give money, time, skills or other donations and those who are in need. The Esher branch has been supporting local individuals and families since 2010, and is now playing an important role in helping those affected by Coronavirus – especially those made homeless during the crisis. Annie and her team are a valuable part of the local team effort to safeguard the vulnerable, as we come through the Coronavirus challenge.
