Earlier today, I joined up with The Besom in Esher to deliver Christmas hampers to families in Thames Ditton, Esher, Molesey and Claygate.
The Besom is a brilliant local charity, providing a bridge between those who want to give money, time, skills or other donations, and those who are in need. The Esher branch has been supporting local individuals and families since 2010 and has been doing brilliant work during the pandemic. I saw this for myself the last time I volunteered with them, back in May.
I met with Annie Emmins and other volunteers in West Molesey to hear a bit about their recent work, before heading off to deliver the hampers. These deliveries are a great idea, and it was a pleasure to join the other volunteers to bring a bit of early Christmas cheer (observing all the Coronavirus restrictions) to local families.
It’s this kind of local community spirit that’s supported us all through the pandemic so far, and will see us through the next few months. My thanks to everyone at The Besom for all that they’re doing.
