Surrey County Council to invest over £2.5m in Elmbridge roads and pavements

Last month, I posted about the £25.7m that Surrey is receiving in 2021/22 to maintain local roads and repair potholes.

It was good to hear recently what this will mean for Elmbridge. Councillor Matt Furniss, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, has confirmed that the council plans to spend almost £2.3m on Elmbridge’s roads and pavements in 2021/22. In addition, the council’s Elmbridge Local Committee, which brings decision making closer to the local community, will be investing £311,000 in priority repairs to local roads and pavements.

This funding will allow the county council to build on the good work it’s done locally in recent years, carrying out over 100 maintenance works since 2016.

Poorly maintained roads and pavements have a real impact on residents’ quality of life, so this is good news for our borough.
