Government Makes it Easier to Get Rail Compensation

On Tuesday, the Government announced that commuters on South Western Railway (SWR) will now have access to the improved Automated Delay Repay scheme, making claiming compensation for train delays far easier.

Under the new system, season ticket holders using Touch smartcards and travellers who buy advanced tickets through SWR will automatically be prompted to claim by email if their train is more than 15 minutes late. The claiming process is as simple as accepting, declining, or amending the claim in response to the email. Opting into the scheme can be done here.

This is a significant improvement on the previous system, where customers were required to manually submit information about their claim in an online form.
