Pressure to build new homes has heightened local concerns for Elmbridge’s greenbelt. The government’s approach to enabling local authorities to devise a Local Plan for building new homes has ensured stronger local democratic checks are in place over new development. I continue to make the case for maintaining the right balance between promoting home building and maintaining effective greenbelt protections, as a matter of local and national policy.
