Last week marked the end of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme. This was a key part of the government’s Plan for Jobs, and the latest figures show just how important it’s been for our local economy and hospitality sector.
In total, 111,000 meals were discounted under the scheme in Esher and Walton, across 114 participating businesses. Residents saved £627,000 over the course of the scheme – an average of £5.66 per meal.
From these numbers, it’s clear that residents have been getting out and supporting their local businesses. This is good news, helping to protect jobs in a sector that’s had a really tough time during the pandemic.
In the coming months, our local businesses will be continuing to recover from the disruption – so I would encourage residents, where you can, to keep supporting them.
