It was great to welcome Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng to speak at Connect, my local business group, on Friday morning. Connect has been an invaluable way to keep in touch with business owners in Elmbridge throughout the pandemic.
The discussion with Kwasi covered construction, up-skilling, energy and innovation, with great questions from local businesses about the route out of the pandemic and the promising economic recovery. The event came soon after the IMF upgraded its forecasts for UK growth this year and next, and just after new figures showed the construction and services sectors growing strongly.
The session was also a good opportunity to highlight the welcome measures for businesses announced in last month’s Budget.
