Reinforcing Local Flood Defences

In Elmbridge, we face a high risk of flooding, because we have towns and villages that border the River Thames. I regularly coordinate with Elmbridge Borough Council and the Environment Agency on our preparedness for floods, the investment going into local flood defences and how local agencies coordinate with affected neighbourhoods on the ground.

I also led the Parliamentary debate in 2013, which helped secure a new deal between industry and government, to continue the availability of affordable insurance for home-owners living in high flood risk areas like Elmbridge.
